Brendan's Death Song [Official Music Video]

Red Hot chili Peppers released the video for ‘Brendan’s Death Song’ from their latest album ‘I’m With You’.  The song pays homage to the band’s long time friend Brendan Mullen.

The band members credit Brendan for being one of the major reasons for their success. Apparently Brendan founded the club The Masque. But the club was shut after few years, so instead he started booking shows for Club Lingerie. And this is when he saw Anthony and Flea’s demo tape and booked them a slot to open for the Bad Brains show. Not only did he build the platform for them, he also supported the band throughout the years. He was also working on the bands autobiography titled ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers: An oral/visual history’.

In an interview, the band’s vocalist said he got the news of Brendan’s death on the very first day of the album rehearsal. The message was passed on to the other member and they started jamming without talking much. This pretty much set the base for the song which later on developed into 'Brendan’s Death Song'. Despite this, Anthony  happens to say that “the song is more of a celebration than a bummer”.
