‘The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’ is basically a museum which helps in vaulting the history of the greatest and famous artists. It was created in the year 1983 and celebrated its 25th Anniversary on October 29, 2009. Every year, few selected artists or bands are inducted in the Hall of Fame for the ‘Performers’ category.

Few musicians are also inducted for the ‘Early Influences’ category. A set of non-performers is inducted for the ‘Non-performers (Ahmet Ertegun Award)’ and last but not the least, ‘Sidemen(Musical Excellence Award)’ is for those honored veteran session and live concert players who otherwise don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Till date there have been 26 induction ceremonies with 681 being the total number of people inducted and 279 the total number of inductees. Despite many artists being inducted more than once, Eric Clapton has been inducted three times [The Yardbirds(‘92), Cream(‘93) and Solo(‘00)] which is the maximum so far for a single artist.
