Almost Famous

With dozens of documentaries, movies and biographies on Rock musicians and bands out there, this movie definitely stands out for being the best till date in the niche.

‘Almost Famous’ directed and written by Cameron Crowe was released in the year 2000. Set in the year 1973, the film is about a high-school student William, who has a passion for rock music and journalism which in turn earns him a job in The Rolling Stones magazine for covering the band ‘Stillwater’.

Soon he starts accompanying the band on their concert tours and gets more and more intricately involved in the band dynamics. William also develops a very strong bond with Penny Lane who leads a groupies group called ‘The Band-aids’ which follows the band on tour. The plot thickens as the movie progresses, but as for now, this is all I am telling you, so that you watch the movie yourself too.

The movie brilliantly describes every aspect of the rock culture back then, whether it’s the groupies, touring or the toll their personal and family life suffer in course of the journey. I recommend all you rock music enthusiasts out there to give the movie a try. One last thing, don’t miss the airplanes scene in the end!
